I had two issues with my son’s Big Jig rail track. One was the railway crossing gates getting broken and the other was the “rickety bridge” issue.
The gate was a simple case of it being stood on.
But one gate and the track link got broken so I looked to replace both by designing and 3D printing new ones.
The Rickety Bridge was another issue. The bridge, which is two ‘suspension’ bridges comes with wooden bridge supports for the joints. These are totally useless as it does not hold the bridge in place and therefore it just falls over with the slightest knock, which happens a lot when playing with it. So I wanted to design a new support system that would hold the track in place making it much sturdier.
The new support I designed needed to be able to press fit onto both sides of the track to hold both in place. The result worked really well.
